So it’s here!! About 10 months ago I was at a training session with a trainer who decided to use me as the demonstration. So, she hifu’d my neck. I’m 56, and my neck was looking a bit crepey . What is HIFU?
HIFU is high intensity Focus Ultrasound that delivers precise micro Thermal spots or zones in a line of up to 25mm long in 3 different depths into the skin, heating the collagen to 60-75 degrees producing neocollagenesis(new collagen- who doesn’t want that?); causing lifting and tightening of lower jowls and sagging neck lines. The three depths give a 3D tightening – like a triple action within 3 zones of your skin- the epidermis, the dermis and right down to the muscle layer. The completed tightening take 3 months to surface to the top layer of skin as the spots are also placed in the SMAS (at the the surface of the muscle layer- quite deep within the skin). Most treatments, such as laser, peels and microneedling does not get this deep. This area is what plastic surgeons tighten in a facelift. The resultant tightening from HIFU does not disappear but you have to remember that you are still aging. So a top up treatment will be needed.
Because it is ultrasound, no downtime occurs. You may be red for a bit afterwards, but that settles fast. I had a full face treatment almost 2 weeks ago now and I did notice that if I touched my jaw area, it felt a bit tender, but that disappeared in a week or two. I got a lovely compliment from someone saying how young I looked and how flawless my skin seemed, about 2 weeks after the treatment. So, I am waiting for three months!!
